Research Manager - Neuroscience & Regenerative Medicine Location: Augusta University. Full Time. Job Summary
A position designed to learn through engagement in an advanced level of scientific technical and administrative work in support of research efforts in an assigned laboratory or clinical research setting. Participate in research data collection and documentation within relevant guidelines and protocols; develop and evaluate new research techniques and procedures; publish results in scientific journals. Perform a variety of complex chemical, biological, cytologic, microscopic, histologic, surgical, clinical, statistical/computational and dissection procedures. Responsibilities
Participate in project planning and development of research protocols while insuring adherence to accepted scientific research principles and compliance with relevant federal guidelines. Perform a variety of experimental studies including electrophysiology, cell biology and molecular biology experiments. Experiments may include but are not limited to performing animal surgery, genotyping, western blot, ELISA, real-time PCR, immunohistochemistry, collection and dissection of taste tissue. Analyze results of experiments and procedures using confocal and brightfield image analyses and, if necessary, develop special computer programs to facilitate analysis. Maintain and update spreadsheets documenting results. Maintains breeding colonies, performs treatments for colitis models and cytokine knockdown, and genotyping on transgenic mice for ACE2 models, conditional and global cytokine knockouts. Manages continuous operation of the research laboratory, orders supplies and animals as necessary, keeps track of costs, expenses and delivered. Supervise and coordinate activities of students, graduate assistants and other research personnel engaged in research activities and/or related laboratory work. Advise principal investigators, other postdocs, students and other research personnel on research techniques, procedures, and other technological aspects of research activities. Operate microscopes, computer-linked analytical equipment, dedicated computers and other complex scientific equipment; instruct others in operation of equipment. Required Qualifications
Ph.D.
from an accredited college or university with a minimum of one year directly applicable experience; previous supervisory experience. OR Master's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of five years\' progressive grant management, resources management and quality assurance program development experience and previous supervisory experience. OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of eight years' progressive grant management, resources management and quality assurance program development experience and previous supervisory experience. Ability to maintain confidentiality Willingness and ability to work with research animals Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills Detail-oriented with strong organizational, prioritization and multi-tasking skills Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases or willingness to learn Ability to work independently as well as interact with lab mates, complete work and meet deadlines Highly motivated and committed to achieving excellence in the form of productivity and publications Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required) Pay Band: B12 Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position Recruitment Period: Until Filled Augusta University offers a variety of benefits to full-time benefits-eligible employees and some of our half-time (or more) employees.
