Coordinates and conducts all aspects of molecular testing focusing on nucleic acid (DNA/RNA) extraction, polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) assays. Oversees pre-analytical factors involved in specimen submission for in-house and remote contributors, including test verification/validation, specimen requirements, rejection criteria, submission manuals, and communication with providers. Process specimens using manual and automated methods; perform technical troubleshooting to ensure specimen integrity and timely readiness for interpretation; maintain NGS systems and perform routine maintenance. Accurately process specimens by extracting DNA, amplifying genomic regions of interest with PCR and performing NGS; correlate results with clinical history and, when indicated, communicate with contributors to align testing indications with clinical context. Plan and conduct procedures to devise solutions to testing problems, evaluate published methods for incorporation, participate in research protocols, develop methods, and prepare data for publication; coordinate procurement and preventive maintenance within budget. Monitor quality assurance metrics across pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases to identify trends and ensure test accuracy. Provide technical leadership to coordinate the quality control program for the Molecular Pathology Service and ensure compliance with proficiency testing, safety, and regulatory standards; support audits and inspections. Design laboratory operations to comply with CAP and DoD CLIP accreditation standards; monitor accreditation requirements and incorporate applicable discoveries into clinical practice as directed by the Medical Director. Identify training needs and provide or coordinate in-service training; contribute to curriculum development and assessment tools within the Pathology Residency Program; maintain technical competencies and CAP/CLIP certifications. Perform complex and precise molecular testing; assess new instruments, develop or modify procedures for new tests, and troubleshoot to prevent erroneous results. Operate complex computerized equipment for analysis and calibration; develop and document procedures; coordinate with outside reference laboratories as needed. Review clinical reports and records for trends; advise on guideline development and coordinate with agencies to stay current with developments in the field. Perform other duties as assigned and participate in required training; designate as Key Personnel and Mission Essential as applicable. Qualifications

Education and Experience Bachelor 0s Degree in biological science or related field required. Minimum of 3-5 years 0experience required. Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Knowledge of basic computer programs Ability to follow detailed instructions Good written and verbal communication, organizational and analytical skills Ability to obtain and maintain a T3 Secret Clearance; U.S. citizenship required. Licenses and Certifications Certification as a Technologist in Molecular Biology (MB, ASCP) or Specialist in Molecular Biology (SMB, ASCP) or other certification deemed comparable by the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs (OASD(HA)) or designee (CCLM). Work Environment Primarily laboratory setting. Work Arrangement: 100% on-site. Hours: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (non-negotiable). Compensation Hourly pay range: $27.72-$40.87.
