Overview

Job Title: Research Faculty I, 12 Month Salaried - Biological Solid-State NMR (National High Magnetic Field Laboratory) Location: Tallahassee, FL Regular/Temporary: Regular • Full/Part Time: Full-Time • Job ID: 61319 Responsibilities

Develop an independent and collaborative research program relating to solid-state NMR of biosolids and biological applications. Advance ultrahigh magnetic field NMR research, including innovative NMR techniques and hardware such as dynamic-nuclear polarization (DNP) and rf probes. Assist in the management of the NHMFL’s NMR User Program and Facility, including recruiting and collaborating with users. Work with a team of engineers and scientists; advance a research program focused on high-field SSNMR techniques for biological applications with quadrupolar and spin-1/2 nuclei. Utilize NHMFL high-field magnets (e.g., 1.5 GHz 36 T SCH NMR, 600 MHz DNP systems) and future high-field instruments. Administer part of the NHMFL’s NMR User Facility, including system management, maintenance, project initiation, planning, and execution with users. Collaborate with the Director of the NMR/MRI User Program on key research projects. Demonstrate motivation, teamwork, excellent communication, and a vision to become a world-class researcher. The candidate will have support from a team of engineers and scientists and opportunities to collaborate with users from across the U.S. and internationally, to apply for grants, pursue individual research objectives, publish work, and participate in national and international organizations and conferences. Qualifications

Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biophysics, or Physics with research experience in biological solid-state NMR. Strong experimental NMR expertise, including spectrometer operation, data processing, pulse-sequence development and implementation, probe hardware, and familiarity with biological sample preparation and handling. Preferred Qualifications

The candidate is expected to have excellent writing skills, a strong track record of publications, and experience working in a multidisciplinary research environment. Other Information

The NHMFL’s NMR/MRI User Program operates a state-of-the-art user facility with 13 NMR spectrometers, including 1.5 GHz 36 T SCH, ultra-widebore 900 MHz, 850 MHz, 2 × 800 MHz, 600 MHz DNP, 3 × 600 MHz, and several other lower-field instruments. How To Apply
