The Roadside Assistance Technician role supports our Emergency Roadside Assistance team, delivering peace of mind to members by identifying and navigating vehicle problems and providing services to get them back on the road. A day-in-the-life of a Roadside Assistance Technician: you will be part of our Emergency Roadside Assistance team and are considered an "Everyday Hero" for helping members with vehicle problems and delivering applicable services. Responsibilities
Operate a full-size or mini service truck or tow truck and applicable service equipment to assist AAA members, employees and other motorists Utilize GPS and maps to locate member breakdown locations Service vehicles by performing functions such as providing fuel, testing and replacing batteries, performing jumpstarts, providing lockout service and changing/inflating flat tires Arrange for or tow a member’s vehicle when it cannot be started or is unsafe to drive Ensure 100% member satisfaction by providing excellent customer service Offer value to members through On-the-Go Tow or battery tests and sales Provide support at special events such as parades, travel shows, Car Care or Public Relations events Benefits and Compensation
Hourly rates starting at $24.00 in Illinois; pay rate determined by experience and may exceed starting rate Overtime earning potential at time and a half the hourly wage Shift premiums: 5% for hours 5pm–11pm and 10% for hours 11pm–5am $1,000 sign-on bonus; split payout at 90 and 180 days of employment $250 Quarterly Perfect Attendance bonus Fully paid training Medical, dental and vision benefits 401k with employer match Paid parental leave and adoption assistance PTO, company holidays, CEO days and floating holidays Paid volunteer day annually Tuition assistance and professional certification reimbursement AAA Membership and other discounts/perks Qualifications
Required Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver’s license 21 years of age or older Valid state driver’s license with minimal driving infractions/incidents If employed in Illinois, possession of a valid Illinois C-NonCDL driver’s license is required Experience using tablets or electronic devices to update calls, review policies and procedures, document safety records and complete duties Strong customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively with customers/members Ability to lift up to 75 pounds Ability to successfully complete drug screening, MVR, criminal background check and DOT health screenings (pre-employment and ongoing) Preferred Qualifications: Experience servicing vehicles (fuel, battery testing/replacement, jumpstarts, lockout, tire changes/inflation) Prior tow truck driver or roadside service experience Ability to safely operate wheel lift, flatbed, dolly towing equipment and related service equipment; or have related commercial driving experience Work Environment
Provides roadside service to AAA members. Works primarily out of the office with frequent exposure to road hazards and temperature extremes. Spends less than 5% of time in a temperature-controlled office environment. About AAA The Auto Club Group
