STIPEND OPPORTUNITY: BPS Springboard Early Literacy Tutor (SY25-26)

Overview
*** This is a stipended position and is only open to current, eligible, BPS employees whose current job status allows them to participate in this opportunity.*** This stipended position is offered to Boston Public School educators. The position resides in the Teaching & Learning department, reporting to the school's Program Leader. The BPS Springboard Tutor will be responsible for providing instruction during a 10-week Family-Educator Learning Accelerator with students and families to close the literacy gap by providing explicit, systematic literacy instruction to students not currently meeting grade-level benchmarks and by strengthening the connection between home and school.
Responsibilities
Attend all required pre-programming professional development sessions (October 6-10) - up to 6 hours
Support Family Orientation and Team-Building Huddles (October 13-17) - 6 hours
Administer, score, and enter data for beginning and ending DIBELS assessments - 8 hours total
Lead weekly student instruction sessions (October 27 - January 29) - 30 hours
Prepare for and facilitate 4 family workshops - 4 hours instruction + 12 hours prep time
Conduct family outreach and make-up workshops - 5 hours
Participate in weekly Professional Learning Community (PLC) meetings - 6 hours
Input program data into the Connect database
Facilitate end-of-program Learning Celebration (February 6) - 2 hours
Maintain weekly family communication
Qualifications - Required
Currently a Boston Public Schools Employee
Bachelor's Degree preferred
Experience working with elementary students in literacy instruction
Current authorization to work in the United States
A deeply held and unyielding belief in the overarching mission of public education
Commitment to family engagement and culturally responsive teaching practices
Qualifications - Preferred
Recommendation by School Administrator
Experience with literacy assessment tools (DIBELS preferred)
Familiarity with Boston and Boston Public Schools
Bilingual capabilities
Union/Managerial/Residency Required:
Stipend open to 3 BPS employees at Springboard-participating schools (residency not required)
Compensation Compensation Range:
Stipend - $59.39 per hour for a total of 79 hours ($4,691.81 total stipend paid at the conclusion of programming)
