Ascendo Resources is currently seeking an Accounting Manager for a full-time, hybrid role located in New York City. Our client is a leading global financial services firm. This high-visibility role supports one of the company’s most significant P&L lines, with direct exposure to senior leadership and the opportunity to drive process improvements. Base pay range
$130,000.00/yr - $140,000.00/yr Key Responsibilities
Lead and support a team responsible for compensation-related accounting and reporting. Perform and review reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close processes tied to commissions, bonuses, and payroll. Manage compensation calculations, ensuring accuracy in broker contracts, tiered payouts, and incentive accruals. Oversee accounting for equity plans and employee-related benefits. Partner with stakeholders in Finance, HR, and Payroll to communicate commission and bonus outcomes. Prepare compensation-related budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis. Support internal/external audits and ensure compliance with established controls. Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy. Preferred background
While direct
compensation accounting experience
is highly valued, the team is also open to candidates with transferable experience such as: Reconciliations, journal entries, month-end close Experience with broker-dealer operations, trading settlements, or commission tracking Familiarity with commission structures and incentive calculations Excel / Systems Skills
Advanced Excel (pivot tables, formulas, large dataset analysis) Attention to Detail / Process Orientation
Strong compliance and accuracy mindset Experience documenting processes or developing SOPs Qualifications
4+ years of accounting experience 2+ years in a supervisory role (required) Strong communication and presentation skills Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred Why Apply?
