The FPSC exercises regulatory authority over utilities in rate base/economic regulation, competitive market oversight, and monitoring of safety, reliability, and service.
Responsibilities
The Senior Attorney will work in the Economic Regulation Section of the Office of General Counsel. This Section handles legal work for the Commission concerning ratemaking, certification, and territorial issues in the water, wastewater, electric, and gas industries. The Senior Attorney will appear primarily before the Florida Public Service Commission. Responsibilities include applying the Florida Administrative Procedure Act, the Uniform Rules of Procedure, Florida Civil Procedure, and the Florida Evidence Code; evaluating issues; conducting complex legal research and applying findings; conducting investigations and discovery; presenting evidence; advocating positions at hearings (oral and written); effective verbal and written communication; and working collaboratively on a team.
Minimum Qualifications
Admission to The Florida Bar and two years of professional experience in the practice of law, legal research, teaching law, or in administrative or judicial meetings. Background investigations, including criminal history record checks and education verifications, will be conducted on all applicants recommended for hiring.
