About the Division of Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine (PRM)

The Division was founded in 1990. Our mission is to advance pediatric physiatry and maximize health, function, and well-being through high-quality family-centered rehabilitative care, transformative research, collaboration, advocacy, and training. We have 14 faculty and a culture that promotes collaboration, respect, inclusion, and growth. We offer the largest training program in pediatric rehabilitation with four fellows, five triple board residents, and 58 graduates. About Clinical Programming within PRM

PRM provides rehabilitation care across the spectrum from initial diagnosis and acute medical care to inpatient consultation and admission to our CARF-accredited inpatient pediatric rehabilitation unit, followed by longitudinal care in general rehabilitation and multidisciplinary clinics. Inpatient Pediatric Rehabilitation Service

The Division provides inpatient rehabilitation through a robust inpatient consultation service and an accredited inpatient rehabilitation unit recognized by CARF. The unit includes programs in: Pediatric Specialty Rehabilitation Pediatric Brain Injury Rehabilitation Pediatric Cancer Rehabilitation Pediatric Interdisciplinary Inpatient Pain Management These programs deliver individualized interventions to restore and enhance functional independence for children, adolescents, and young adults. Patients may be recovering from neurotrauma, adjusting to new diagnoses, or experiencing functional impairments related to medical treatments. Faculty from PRM serve as primary care providers for patients admitted to the unit, leading medical management and rehabilitation strategies for coordinated care. Cerebral Palsy Program

The Cerebral Palsy Clinic at CCHMC cares for over 2000 patients with an innovative care model. The division offers more than 20 CP Team clinics per month. Multidisciplinary clinics include a pediatric rehabilitation physician, a pediatric physical therapist, a pediatric occupational therapist, a care coordinator, a nurse care manager, and a dietitian, delivering holistic care aligned with patient and family goals. Additional CP care is available through physician-only CP clinics for visits and spasticity management. Interdisciplinary Opportunities

There are collaborative clinical opportunities at CCHMC in: Infant Motor Evaluation Clinic (IMEC) – early CP detection for infants 2 years and under; teams include pediatric rehabilitation physician, infant neurologist, pediatric physical therapist, and CP care coordinator. Infants with CP or high risk for CP transition to CP care pathways. Surgical Spasticity Clinic – evaluation for intrathecal baclofen pump therapy and rhizotomies; coordinated with pediatric neurosurgery and PT; follow pre- and post-operative rehab. CP Surgical Mobility Clinic – condensed 2-day visits for ambulatory CP patients to evaluate surgical options, including gait analysis and team-based recommendations. Spina Bifida Center

Comprehensive, family-centered care with weekly multidisciplinary clinics, offering advanced diagnostics and treatment including fetal surgery through partnership with the Fetal Care Center. Comprehensive Neuromuscular Center

Longitudinal consultative care for pediatric neuromuscular disorders through a multidisciplinary team, integrating clinical, translational, and basic research to develop individualized care plans. Cancer and Blood Diseases Institute (CBDI)

CBDI Clinics provide comprehensive, longitudinal cancer care across neuro-oncology, sarcoma, leukemia/lymphoma, and solid tumor clinics. Rehabilitation medicine contributes across all phases of treatment to manage functional impairments and support rehabilitation goals. Other PRM Clinics

PRM provides guidance across general and specialized rehabilitation clinics, including Brain Health and Wellness, Cerebrovascular and Stroke, and Brachial Plexus Palsy clinics. The division maintains a broad network across Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky to ensure longitudinal rehabilitation care and individualized plans. The PRM team collaborates with OT/PT and Speech Language Pathology for serial casting, orthotics, NMES, and robotics-assisted therapy, with services at the Perlman Center for early intervention, preschool therapies, equipment, assistive technology, aquatic therapy, and related evaluations. Qualifications

M.D., D.O. or equivalent degree Current active medical license issued by the State of Ohio or eligibility Subspecialty board certification or eligibility in Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine Assistant Professor appointment or eligibility Representative Responsibilities

Patient Care: Provide safe, effective, equitable and compassionate care in an interdisciplinary ambulatory setting; oversee inpatient rehabilitation medical service and provide consults to other physicians to coordinate care; oversee spasticity management including neurotoxin injections and intrathecal baclofen pump management. Teaching: Teach and supervise medical students, residents, and fellows; maintain high-quality teaching and mentorship. Service: Contribute to innovative patient care and quality improvement programs. Scholarly Activity: Engage in ongoing scholarly activities including original research, clinical observations, reviews, or publications. Desired Attributes
