Overview
The Department of Psychology at Marshall University seeks applicants for a nine-month tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor position in the department’s APA-accredited Clinical Psychology doctoral program (Psy.D.). The Marshall University Psy.D. program has competitive admissions, close-knit cohorts, 100% practicum placement rates, and talented faculty dedicated to student and client success. Start date January 2026 but earlier start is negotiable for strong applicants. The Department of Psychology also houses a robust undergraduate program (BA/BS) and a general master’s program. The department is preparing to launch an undergraduate degree program that can be completed completely online. While primary responsibilities will be in clinical teaching and supervision, there is an expectation to contribute to coverage in the undergraduate BA/BS program as well as the general master’s program.
Responsibilities
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses.
Develop a program of research.
Supervise undergraduate and graduate student research.
Develop applied undergraduate learning opportunities such as practicum experiences.
Participate in university service activities.
Contribute to coverage in the undergraduate BA/BS program and the general master’s program.
Teach interdisciplinary courses such as the First-Year Seminar to enhance students’ critical thinking.
There are opportunities to move into programmatic leadership and coordination positions in the future, including development and direction of off-campus training placements.
Qualifications
Tenure-track appointment as Assistant or Associate Professor in psychology (nine-month position).
Position in the department’s APA-accredited Clinical Psychology Psy.D. program.
