Position: Associate Professional Practice Professor or Professional Practice Professor Department: Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, College of Engineering, The Ohio State University. The Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department invites applications for a Professional Practice Professor candidate at the Associate Professor or Professor level in the area of Manufacturing Engineering. The research area must complement the current portfolio. This position will start as early as Fall Semester 2026. Sponsorship will be offered if an international candidate is selected. Position overview (teaching focus)

The ideal candidate will be able to teach a variety of topics in the Mechanical Engineering curriculum related to the professional practice of Manufacturing Engineering. The position is teaching-focused; however, the successful candidate will also be expected to perform scholarly activity in a related area, such as curriculum development, engineering education, or another research area aligned with the professional practice of Manufacturing Engineering. Performance objectives

Contribute to teaching and scholarly activities in the Mechanical and Integrated Systems Engineering programs related to the practice of Manufacturing Engineering. Participate in service to the university and the engineering profession with a focus on education and professional practice in Manufacturing Engineering. Teach and mentor students at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Develop and support a portfolio of impactful scholarly activities related to the practice of Manufacturing Engineering. Qualifications

Required

Education: Doctorate (academic) or equivalent combination of education and experience with a major in Mechanical or Integrated Systems Engineering or a closely related field. Scholarly impact: Demonstrated history of impactful scholarly activity with potential for continued success, in pedagogy, discipline, or both, with focus on manufacturing engineering education and practice. Leadership and collaboration: Demonstrated leadership and collaboration in professional or academic environments related to manufacturing. Teaching and mentoring: Teaching and mentoring skills to improve the curriculum and create new courses; experience mentoring students or recent graduates. Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to work with external and internal colleagues and interdisciplinary teams. Independence and initiative: Able to work independently with strong project leadership skills. Innovative thinking: Open to new ideas and continuous learning. Desired

Potential to be a conscientious university community member. Experience in the practice of manufacturing engineering, including automotive manufacturing. Evidence of broad impact in manufacturing education and research. Experience with securing project funding related to manufacturing education and research. Experience with collaborative projects that complement OSU and College of Engineering partners. Additional information

Appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor will be based on the candidate’s experience aligned with the MAE Department’s Appointments, Promotion, and Tenure guidelines. The final offer will be determined by qualifications and experience. Salary and start-up packages are negotiated by the department chair and may vary by individual circumstances.
