Overview
We are seeking a dynamic
Controller / Director of Accounting
to join our healthcare organization. Reporting directly to the CFO, this individual will oversee a wide range of accounting functions and play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the organization’s financial operations. This position will lead the accounting team and collaborate closely with leadership to support sound financial decision-making, improve processes, and drive operational excellence. Key Responsibilities
Oversee and manage the month-end close process for both Operating and Property entities. Prepare or review monthly accruals, including wages, accrued revenue, production bonuses, and other key entries. Review and approve journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation; address issues proactively with team members and CFO. Analyze billing system data to support monthly revenue analysis and ensure proper accounts receivable allowance balances, considering payer mix. Collaborate with the billing team to reconcile unapplied cash, process refunds, and resolve other billing-related accounting matters. Reconcile accounts receivable and balance sheet accounts, including maintaining detailed component schedules. Manage the general ledger and accounts payable systems, including upgrades, system maintenance, and workflow improvements. Maintain fixed asset accounting and depreciation schedules; prepare tax-required reports on asset additions, disposals, and transfers. Evaluate and improve expense allocation methodologies across the organization. Monitor daily banking and cash balances; initiate transfers as needed to optimize cash flow. Partner with the CFO to enhance financial reporting, including redesigning month-end reporting packages. Perform ad-hoc financial analyses and reporting as requested by leadership. Prepare and file tax returns and payments, including MNCare surgery center tax and sales/use tax filings. Lead the annual external financial review and 401(k) audit processes. Complete required government surveys and compliance reports. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required). CPA certification (active or inactive) preferred. Strong knowledge of GAAP principles preferred. Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably within the healthcare sector. At least 2 years of supervisory or management experience. Proficiency with accounting software and strong reporting capabilities. Experience conducting ad-hoc financial analyses. Excellent analytical skills and solid business acumen. Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills. Work Model
