Boston Public Schools seeks an exceptional
English as a Second Language (ESL) Teacher
who is highly qualified and knowledgeable to join our community of teachers, learners, and leaders. This is an exciting opportunity for teachers who desire to serve where their efforts matter. Teach: English as a Second Language: Provide ESL instruction to Multilingual Learners identified as English Learners. Collaborate with content teachers to align instruction supporting students’ English development and classroom needs. Coordinate with instructional leadership, coaches, and administration to ensure language support for ELL students. Assist with ACCESS administration and oversee ELL student transition meetings. Plan and deliver lessons aligned with WIDA Standards for varying proficiency levels. Demonstrate cultural proficiency and integrate technology into instruction. Understand and apply WIDA’s ELD Standards and Can Do Descriptors. Support classroom teachers in administering assessments for ELL students. Participate in professional development to stay current with ELL strategies. Core Competencies

Bachelor's degree. Valid Massachusetts ESL Teaching License for the appropriate grade level. Fulfill state and federal licensing requirements to be Highly Qualified. Ability to meet BPS Standards of Effective Teaching. Legal authorization to work in the U.S. Excellent spoken and written English skills. Qualifications - Preferred
Experience in urban settings. Fluency in one of BPS’s official languages: Spanish, Cabo Verdean Creole, Haitian Creole, Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, or Somali. Certification in core content and possibly in Moderate Disabilities or ESL. Terms
