Overview
HIM Auditor KAISER (Remote – MUST Reside in HI, CA, WA, or OR). Contract through End of Year | Full-Time | Remote We’re seeking an experienced Health Information Management (HIM) Auditor to join Kaiser's team. This position focuses on auditing inpatient and outpatient coding for accuracy and compliance with federal and state regulations. The ideal candidate will act as a subject matter expert—providing mentorship, education, and feedback to coders and physicians while supporting overall coding quality and denial prevention. Responsibilities
Conduct monthly audits of inpatient and outpatient coders (ICD-10-CM, PCS, and CPT). Ensure coding accuracy meets or exceeds 95% compliance standards. Review DRGs, inpatient coding, and denials for compliance and accuracy. Provide coder education, feedback, and corrective action plans as needed. Deliver physician education to improve documentation and coding alignment. Maintain detailed documentation of audit findings and recommendations. Partner with coders and leadership to drive continuous process improvement. Qualifications
Certifications (required):
CCS, RHIT, RHIA, or CPC. Experience:
Minimum 2 years of coding experience within the last 5 years; at least 1 year of full-time coding with certification. Preferred:
5+ years of inpatient DRG coding experience. Strong understanding of ICD-10-CM, PCS, and CPT coding systems. High school diploma or GED required; coursework in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and coding conventions preferred. Systems:
Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word); EPIC experience a plus.
