BASIC FUNCTIONS:
Under the direction of the appropriate Dean, this position is a part-time temporary instructional faculty assignment. This role is suitable for an exceptionally motivated candidate who demonstrates a genuine interest in engaging with a diverse student body and possesses a passion for fostering academic growth and knowledge. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
Provide instruction in accordance with approved Imperial Valley College curriculum, established course outlines, and as assigned based on college needs. Conduct classes, prepare lessons, evaluate students, develop syllabi, assess learning outcomes, and perform related duties based on class availability, seniority, and qualifications. Maintain and submit accurate records (grades, syllabi, attendance reports) according to deadlines. Uphold standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the position. Advise students on academic matters. Maintain competency in the field. An applicant may qualify through education and experience equivalent to the listed degrees. To qualify via equivalency, the candidate must submit college transcripts and a detailed work experience description with the application. Minimum qualifications include: Master's degree in the language taught; OR Bachelor's degree in the language taught AND Master's in another language or linguistics; OR the equivalent. Applicants must also demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse socio-economic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students (AB 1725, 87360a). For all faculty positions, if minimum qualifications are not met, the equivalency form must be completed and submitted with the application. Failure to do so may disqualify the application.
