Overview
Staff Engineer – Finance Data Specialist (Remote) at GEICO. This role supports the build out of a Finance Data Warehouse/Lake by partnering with Finance and Technology teams to redesign how finance data is captured, transformed, and utilized to meet business goals. The Staff Engineer will help build, maintain, and support a central repository for all financial transactions to enable FP&A processing and analytics, and to support the broader Finance organization needs. Responsibilities
Leverage strong functional and technical Finance Systems expertise to drive solutions that meet current and future business needs. Engage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the software lifecycle. Participate in design sessions to ensure systems are well designed, efficient, and aligned with business expectations. Collaborate with Finance Leaders (FP&A, Controllers, Financial Reporting, Finance QA & Systems) and with Data Engineering and Finance Technology teams to achieve organizational goals. Develop a vision and technology roadmap to build out a Finance Data Lake/Warehouse and maintain a reconciled source of truth for financial processing. Contribute to the data lake/mart architecture, with knowledge of data processing and transformation using ETL/ELT tools (e.g., Informatica, DBT). Design, develop, implement, and maintain data ingestion and transformation solutions. Work with cloud data solutions (Delta Lake, Iceberg, Hudi, Snowflake, Redshift or equivalent). Support the development and implementation of Revenue and Expense analytics solutions. Influence customers and stakeholders and navigate divergent expectations. Contribute to a strong control and governance framework and support SOX and audit reviews. Translate business and functional specifications into technical specifications. Share best practices and improve processes across teams. Qualifications
15+ years of Finance Systems experience with ERP solutions (e.g., Oracle, Workday, SAP or PeopleSoft). 3+ years of experience implementing and supporting FP&A applications (preferred). 3+ years working with or supporting a Finance Data Lake/Warehouse/Mart and related financial reporting tools. Strong understanding of Dimensional Data Modeling and data processing/ETL/ELT using tools such as Informatica, DBT, etc. Strong SQL skills with the ability to write, debug, and optimize queries and ETL jobs. Experience with Financials via major vendors (e.g., PeopleSoft, Oracle EBS/Oracle Cloud, Workday, SAP). Finance domain expertise to translate processes and functional needs into system solutions. Understanding of FP&A Budgeting, Planning, and forecasting processes. Experience implementing or supporting Revenue or Expense analytics via tools such as Power BI or Tableau. Understanding of accounting processes and reporting expectations to partner with Finance teams. Ability to communicate with users across Technology and Finance; strong collaboration skills. Knowledge of project management techniques, methodologies, and best practices. Strong problem-solving abilities and ability to work in fast-paced environments. Knowledge of software development life cycle and ability to work independently and in a team. Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Administration, or equivalent education or work experience Compensation
