THIS IS A LONG-TERM SUBSTITUTE POSITION that is expected to start on 10/06/2025 and end on 11/10/2025. who is highly qualified and knowledgeable to join our community of teachers, learners, and leaders. This is an opportunity for teachers who want to contribute where their efforts matter. BPS supports high expectations for achievement, equal access to instruction, and closing the achievement gap among student subgroups. Reports to: Principal/Head of School
Responsibilities
Implement district learning goals and objectives, aligned with state frameworks, including identification of access points for student portfolio development.
Provide small-group instruction to students with moderate to severe cognitive delays to support progress in the general curriculum.
Write and implement IEP goals and objectives; provide timely progress reports on student development.
Provide necessary accommodations for learning and testing; develop and implement curriculum as needed; collect and analyze student work for MCAS Alternative Assessment progress.
Collaborate with team members to respond to student needs for modification.
Assist with transition to adult living services as appropriate.

Qualifications – Required
Education Level: Hold a Bachelor's degree.
Massachusetts Teaching License in the appropriate content area and Moderate Disabilities for the appropriate grade level.
Meet all state and federal guidelines to be fully licensed and Highly Qualified.
Ability to meet the Standards of Effective Teaching as outlined by BPS.
Current authorization to work in the United States by the first day of employment.
Qualifications – Preferred
Experience teaching in urban schools.
Degree in Special Education.
Hold ESL License or SEI Endorsement.
Fluency in one of BPS’ official languages (Spanish, Creole, Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, Somali) is valued.
Core content certification in subject area and, if possible, Moderate Disabilities and/or ESL licensure.
The start and end times of BPS schools vary, as do the lengths of the school day. Some BPS schools have a longer school day through the "Schedule A" Expanded Learning Time (ELT) agreement.
