Balancing Budgets and Benches to Keep Parks Welcoming and Well Loved THIS VACANCY IS NOT A SECRETARIAL, CLERICAL, OR AN OFFICE SUPPORT POSITION Are you ready to use your budget planning skills to help care for and improve our island’s natural spaces? We’d love to welcome you to our team! The Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) is seeking a detail-oriented and fiscally knowledgeable professional to support the effective allocation and management of financial resources that sustain and enhance the City’s parks and programs. Responsibilities
Coordinate all departmental budgeting activities, including the development and planning of DPR’s annual budget and Capital Improvement Program requests for equipment. Ensure the department’s budget accurately reflects the equipment, staffing, and supply needs required to maintain and enhance City parks and recreational facilities. Serve as the department’s Purchasing Card (P-Card) Coordinator to manage reconciliations and resolve discrepancies. Collaborate with P-Card users and supervisors to maintain compliance with fiscal policies. Support operational and maintenance activities that keep the City’s parks safe, welcoming, and well-maintained. Perform other related duties as assigned. Special Work Requirements
May be required to serve as the Damage Assessment Coordinator for the department during declared civil defense emergencies. Will serve as Disaster Response worker during declared emergencies. Other Vacancies

Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in business or public administration or a related field. Such experience must have provided the knowledge, skills, and analytical ability normally gained from attainment of a bachelor’s degree. Education must be completed by the time of application to be credited. Education obtained outside the United States must be comparable to a degree earned at an accredited institution. If credit is given for the education, a foreign credential evaluation (FCE) must be provided. Experience Requirement
Three years of professional work experience in budget administration, personnel management (i.e., human resources), or management analysis. Such experience must demonstrate: Application of specialized knowledge in a focused role with a substantial degree of responsibility. Ability to independently apply critical thinking to analyze, evaluate, and solve complex, non-routine administrative problems related to operational, programmatic, or fiscal management. Ability to apply basic principles and practices of public administration including personnel management, budget and fiscal administration, and organization and method analysis. Familiarity in preparing information for technical reports for management addressing organizational goals, objectives, and priorities. Substitution: A Master’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or Public Administration from an accredited four-year college/university may substitute for six months of the required work experience. Education substitutions require documentation; see above for details. Non-Qualifying Experience: Having the required number of years of experience will not in itself be accepted as qualifying. The overall experience must demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of the position. Education and Experience Evaluation: Your application will be evaluated on the quality and quantity of your education, experience, and related competencies.
