HDR is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Power Engineer to join our national Power Generation team. As a Senior Mechanical Power Engineer, you will join a multi-discipline team that supports power and energy projects primarily within the utility, IPP, industrial, and institutional sectors. Primary duties typically involve leadership of the project mechanical team, coordination with other engineering disciplines, monitoring and communication of project status, and providing mechanical engineering support for detailed design and owner’s engineer projects on both a technical and contractual level.

Responsibilities

Lead the project mechanical team and serve as Engineer of Record or Owner’s Engineer as appropriate.

Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and monitor and communicate project status.

Provide mechanical engineering support for detailed design and owner’s engineer projects at both technical and contractual levels.

Lead roles may include lead mechanical engineer, project engineering manager, and may include project manager.

Mentor less experienced engineers and EITs.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering

Minimum 10 years of experience in power generation design or equivalent.

Professional Engineers (PE or P.Eng) license

Extensive experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector

Proficient with Microsoft Office and standard Power Market Sector design software (examples include PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, and Revit)

Attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university (preferred)

Minimum 15 years of experience in power generation design

Gas turbine, steam turbine and/or large reciprocating engine experience or subject matter expertise

Design experience with simple cycle and combined cycle power generation

Previous experience with an engineering power consulting or EPC firm desired

Minimum 10 years of experience, ideally in the fossil power industry with a blend of design and owner’s engineer projects

Ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments

Excellent communication and analytical skills

Willing to mentor less experienced engineers and EITs

Proficient at working within an established schedule and budget

Travel is expected to be less than 10% for client meetings, vendor engagements, and project site visits

The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions. Temporary and part-time roles eligible for limited benefits.) The targeted salary range for this position (based on experience and location) is $108,661 - $204,250.
