Overview

AECOM has a position available for a Solar Engineer within the Renewables and Microgrid Team of the Energy Practice Engineering Center of Excellence. The role offers remote work flexibility and/or location at various Energy offices across the United States. Responsibilities

Responsible for the solar PV electrical engineering design work on assigned projects Work with Project Engineers and Project Managers to develop design schedules and budgets for electrical engineering work activities Support company business development activities related to renewable energy projects Monitor project progress to ensure quality, on-time, and on-budget delivery Design solar PV systems including array layouts, DC string sizing, equipment layouts, and utility interconnections for rooftop, carport, and ground-mount systems (fixed tilt and single-axis tracking) Model solar PV system energy production Develop solar construction and equipment specifications Perform engineering calculations (NEC maximum system voltage, conductor sizing, overcurrent protection sizing, utility disconnects, voltage drop, conduit sizing) Support drawing production – solar PV system one-line and three-line diagrams, cable and conduit schedules Prepare Bill of Materials and provide PV system cost estimation and payback evaluations Design DC and low to medium voltage power distribution Support projects through complete lifecycle (feasibility, preliminary and detailed design, issue-for-bid, construction, start-up, commissioning) Participate in and present engineering work at client meetings Occasional travel to client sites Level-specific responsibilities

Serve as Engineer of Record on solar PV projects Provide specialized technical input for studies and design, and present complex technical solutions to clients Perform quality control reviews of work Participate in development of technical proposals Provide estimates for engineering budget and schedule Review, check, and sign off on work prepared by the team Ensure technical and safety standards are maintained in all design work Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

BA/BS in Electrical Engineering + 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency Experience includes electrical design of commercial and utility-scale solar PV and BESS systems Preferred Qualifications

Eight (8) years of engineering experience preferred PE license preferred Proficiency in AutoCAD, PVsyst, and Microsoft Excel Experience with NREL SAM, ForgeSolar, Helioscope MV AC Collection System Design experience Proficient with NEC and related codes (IBC, NFPA 855) Strong familiarity with utility practices and industry codes (NESC, IEEE, PIP, etc.) Ability to lead engineering tasks with strong communication skills Experience on full EPC/Design-Build projects from start to finish Additional Information
