We are looking for an experienced solar engineer with a strong solar PV design and power engineering background to promote our skills to new clients and maintain our existing client base. Qualified candidates will have a strong background in solar engineering and experience leading tasks on projects. The focus is in the power industry related to solar engineering and interconnection and distribution systems. Experience with battery energy storage and/or wind power is a plus. This is a growth opportunity for engineers aiming to move into project leadership roles. Responsibilities Responsible for the solar PV electrical engineering design work on assigned projects Work with Project Engineers and Project Managers on design schedules and budgets for electrical engineering activities Support company business development activities related to renewable energy projects Monitor project progress to ensure quality, on-time, and on-budget delivery Design Solar PV systems including array layouts, DC string sizing, equipment layouts, and utility interconnections for rooftop, carport, and ground-mount systems Model solar PV system energy production Develop solar construction and equipment specifications Perform engineering calculations (NEC maximum system voltage, conductor sizing, overcurrent protection sizing, utility disconnect requirements, voltage drop, conduit sizing) Support drawing production – solar PV system One-line and Three-line diagrams, Cable and Conduit Schedules Prepare Bill of Materials Estimate PV system cost and perform payback evaluations Design DC and low to medium voltage power distribution Support projects through full lifecycle – feasibility, preliminary and detailed design, issue-for-bid, construction, start-up, and commissioning Participate in and present engineering work at client meetings Occasional travel to client and/or project site Level specific responsibilities Serves as Engineer of Record on all size solar PV projects Provide specialized technical input to studies and design; present complex solutions to clients Perform quality control reviews of work prepared by others Participate in development of technical proposals Provide estimates for engineering budget and schedule Review, check, and sign off on work prepared by the team Ensure technical and safety standards are maintained in all design work Qualifications Minimum Requirements BA/BS in Electrical Engineering +4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education Experience in electrical design of commercial and utility-scale solar PV and BESS systems Preferred Qualifications Eight (8) years of engineering experience preferred PE license preferred Proficiency in AutoCAD, PVsyst, and Microsoft Excel Experience with NREL SAM, ForgeSolar, Helioscope MV AC Collection System Design Experience Proficient with NEC and related codes (IBC, NFPA 855) Strong familiarity with utility practices and standards (NESC, IEEE, PIP) Ability to lead engineering tasks with strong written and verbal communication Experience on full EPC, Design/Build projects from start to finish Additional Information Visa sponsorship is not available for this role now or in the future Relocation is not available for this role About AECOM
