Position Overview We are seeking an Electrical Solar Engineer with 5+ years of experience in PV system design, power engineering, or medium‑voltage electrical systems. This technical, hands‑on role supports the design, analysis, permitting, and construction of community‑scale and C&I solar projects.

Key Responsibilities

Develop full electrical design packages, including site solar layout using Solesca, Revit, AutoCAD, and similar tools.

Detailed AC/DC sizing, conductor and conduit schedules, voltage drop calculations.

Inverter, transformer, MV switchgear, and relay/protection specifications.

String layouts, combiner configurations, grounding/bonding plans.

Coordinate racking design and all associated cable‑management systems (e.g., CAB) to ensure proper routing, support, grounding continuity, and compatibility with the electrical layout.

Produce construction‑ready drawings: electrical details and labeling sheets.

Ensure compliance with NEC, IEEE, UL, utility standards (ComEd/Ameren), AIMA, and all AHJ requirements.

Utility & Interconnection

Coordinate interconnection with ComEd, Ameren, and municipal utilities.

Prepare and respond to interconnection applications, utility studies, and technical comments.

Interpret requirements related to metering, relays, protection schemes, and switching.

Technical Analysis & Modeling

Perform system modeling using PVsyst, Solesca, SAM, HelioScope, or equivalent.

Conduct energy yield assessments, clipping analysis, and shading impacts.

Evaluate equipment performance, warranties, and compliance criteria.

Construction & Field Support

Provide RFI responses, design markups, and resolve field engineering challenges.

Conduct field visits to verify routing, terminations, grounding, as‑built conditions, and QC requirements.

Troubleshoot inverter, transformer, MV equipment, grounding, or DAS/SCADA issues.

Prepare electrical permit packages for AHJs.

Maintain clean design folders, revision logs, and as‑built updates.

Qualifications Required

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.

5+ years of electrical engineering experience in solar PV, power systems, or MV distribution.

Strong understanding of NEC, grounding/bonding, ampacity, conductor sizing, and MV/LV systems.

Proficiency with PV modeling tools (PVsyst, SAM, Solesca or equivalent).

Proficiency with Revit, and AutoCAD.

Ability to produce and interpret construction drawings.

Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills.

Preferred

Experience with community‑scale and C&I solar.

Familiarity with Ameren Illinois/ComEd interconnection processes.

Experience with MV cable spec, load flow, fault current, and protection coordination.

PE license or progress toward PE.

Experience with DAS/SCADA systems like AlsoEnergy.
