21746 The Director of Nursing – Service Line is a formal clinical leader responsible for driving excellence in clinical operations and patient outcomes across the Rush Medical Group (RMG) Service Line. This role develops and implements population-specific clinical strategies, fosters patient-centered care, and leads quality improvement initiatives in collaboration with Service Line leadership and hospital operations teams. The position is based at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL and reports to the Service Line Leader or Department Leader and Associate Vice President, Ambulatory Nursing, RMG. Formal rounding, including travel to each site across the service line, is required. Responsibilities
Lead clinical operations and quality initiatives to improve patient outcomes across the care continuum. Develop and implement population-specific, evidence-based clinical strategies; drive a culture of patient-centered care. Collaborate with Service Line leadership and hospital operations to shape the future of care and ensure clinical excellence across the RMG. Demonstrate leadership related to staffing, performance standards, and scope of practice; participate in the Professional Nursing Structure for RMG. Contribute to short- and long-term strategic planning; implement approved plans and monitor progress toward annual goals. Lead clinic and department quality improvement and quality assurance initiatives; model and promote leader standard work (e.g., clinic huddles, QAPI audits). Engage in evidence-based intervention activities to refine protocols and align practices with organizational goals. Utilize EHRs and clinical decision support tools to streamline workflows and improve data accuracy and patient outcomes. Analyze patient care data to identify trends, anticipate challenges, and implement data-driven improvements. Promote change across the organization using knowledge of change theories and implementation strategies. Qualifications
Current State of Illinois registered nurse license. Indiana or other state RN license within 6 months of hire, in the state of work. Master’s degree or higher; if master’s degree is not in nursing, a bachelor’s degree in nursing is required. American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) specialty certification within twelve (12) months of hire if not present at time of hire. A minimum of five (5) years of registered nurse experience with at least two (2) years of ambulatory experience. Preferred Qualifications
Progressive leadership or quality improvement experience. Green Belt Certification. Experience with heart or vascular patient populations. Analytical ability and strong communication skills to lead and teach. EEO Statement
