Overview The Assistant Civil Engineer will work under the supervision of a licensed professional engineer to assist project teams to create world class designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments on a variety of projects. The Assistant Civil Engineer will work with the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting civil plans according to budget constraints, design factors or client needs.
Responsibilities
Assist with master planning and designing airports and federal installations.
Assist in designing all elements of site development and supporting infrastructure including airfield layout and orientation, facility layout and orientation, vehicular and pedestrian access, and stormwater management.
Assist with maintaining corporate technical expertise for design, construction, and evaluation for flexible and rigid pavement.
Assist in designing utility systems to support federal facilities, aviation facilities, and fuel system facilities.
Assist with managing construction of airfield pavements and other airport improvement projects.
Assist in the civil design of projects from conceptual phase through design completion.
Assist with reviewing production drawings for a variety of projects including power plants, process facilities, industrial, healthcare, airports, educational, commercial, governmental and military facilities.
Assist in designing civil components per project needs and requirements set forth by project managers.
Apply basic knowledge of civil engineering concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures.
Assist with research, data collection, studies, and reports as required by project managers.
Assist with updating drawings in CAD-related software and supporting reviews.
Assist with client presentations, shop drawing review, and contract administration for multiple facility types.
Assist in performing field inspections, measurements or calculations for public and private clients.
Comply with policies and standards.
Qualifications
Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering or related degree from ABET-accredited program required, or Bachelor Degree in Civil/related Engineering Technology from ABET-accredited program with successful FE exam.
Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
Basic knowledge of civil engineering techniques, principles, and procedures.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment; demonstrated critical thinking.
Proficient in Microsoft Office; basic skills in AutoCAD, MicroStation, BIM (Revit), Civil 3D, and civil analysis programs.
Strong attention to detail, collaboration, organization and problem solving skills; demonstrated leadership.
Engineering in Training (EIT) certification preferred.
Minimum 3.0 GPA strongly preferred; campus or community involvement preferred.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the country where this position is located.
Compensation $71,500.00 - $105,000.00 yearly. The compensation range is compliant with local/state regulations and may vary based on education, experience, and location. Total compensation includes base salary and eligibility for discretionary year-end incentives.
