MECHANICAL SUPERINTENDENT

Summary
The Mechanical Superintendent is responsible for overseeing field operations, general safety, productivity, schedule, quality work, commissioning, coordination with other Superintendent and project leaders on the jobsite. This position reports to the Site Manager, or another management personnel that the CEO of the Company may designate. This position reports to the Ankeny, IA office but will maintain a hybrid schedule of working out of their home office and the Ankeny, IA office. Working hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 5:00pm or 9:00am to 6:00pm local time. This position is expected to travel up to 100% of the time.

Essential Job Function & Responsibilities
Regular attendance, in accordance with company's attendance policy and supervisory assignment, is an essential job duty requirement for this position
Directs solar/construction personnel and/or installation subcontractors to achieve completion of the project on schedule, within budget, with quality workmanship that conforms to original plans and specifications
Coordination of personnel, material, and equipment needed to meet schedules
Support the team with planning and utilization of proper means and methods for activities
Analyze situations, identify and forecast pertinent problems and evaluate realistic options; and recommend/implement appropriate course of action
Follow and implement the company’s Health, Safety & Environmental Policy
Identify welding certification, training and experience appropriate for assignment scope
Coordinate and implement resources and activities necessary to maintain a safe and quality execution
Assure all work undertaken is within approved scope boundaries and is in full compliance
Coordination with pile suppliers
Advice site teams on tooling & equipment required to complete task
Identify testing required per projects scope of work
Communication with engineering parties to meet commissioning & construction requirements
Manage manpower needed to complete project assignment
Communicate with Surveyor and understand surveying equipment
Maintain and supervise pile drivers and train new operators
Coordination with material manager for all pile staging and receiving
Perform other duties and special projects, as assigned by Management
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 7-10 years of professional experience supporting the constructions of major projects, preferably in the building of power stations or supply networks, or other utility-scale construction projects
Solar PV or wind power project experience, preferred
Experience operating different manufacturers pile drivers
Willingness to travel and relocate from project to project
Excellent skills in MS Project or comparable project management tool, and possess strong technical aptitude, including knowledge of software development methodologies and processes
Strong in Microsoft Office Suite
Fluent in written and spoken English and Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience reviewing mechanical manuals of installation and design technical packages, understand top of pile designs
Assertive, able to cope with pressure, and maintain a team player attitude
Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
May have to interact with Owner’s Field Representative and outside testing agencies
Experience operating construction equipment, pile drivers and GPS surveying equipment
Knowledge of installation methods for the different mechanical systems in the industry
Hammer operators (5 – 10)

Shake out stagging crew (5)

Transport hammers from site to site

Physical Demands
Able to climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding, stairways, etc.
Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or work at elevated heights as well as in confined spaces (towers, vessels, excavations, etc.)
Able to walk or move continuously while carrying 50 lbs. of tools and/or materials. It is recommended to get assistance to lift items over 50 lbs. Check with your project supervisor or project safety director.
Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time
Must be able to work extended hours on your feet on uneven surfaces (dirt, concrete, asphalt, mud, gravel, etc.) Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with requirements of the job duties.
