Overview
The University of New Mexico’s Project ECHO has an amazing opportunity for a Program Coordinator to join our team. This individual will assist in the development and execution of the New Mexico Peer Education Project (NMPEP). NMPEP is a collaboration between Project ECHO and the New Mexico Corrections Department. With a solutions-based focus, the project trains selected prisoners to become Peer Educators to increase self-efficacy and support successful transition back into the community while reducing recidivism. The Program Coordinator will work alongside other project members to coordinate NMPEP activities, including weekly ECHO program sessions and in-person prison trainings.
Responsibilities
Attend and co-facilitate NMPEP trains the trainer 40-hour training in 10 New Mexico prison facilities.
Coordinate training dates with 10 NM prison liaisons to conduct the 40-hour training and NMPEP Enhanced Reentry Education Training for peer educators.
Develop educational presentations and curriculum for NMPEP ECHO sessions.
Assist in planning and organizing NMPEP team meetings.
Act as the central point of contact for Medical students who attend and contribute to NMPEP ECHO sessions.
Schedule and coordinate meetings between senior leadership and internal or external constituencies involved in program activities.
Schedule and coordinate activities of support staff, consultants, faculty, and volunteers.
Coordinate Biweekly, monthly, and quarterly NMPEP ECHO sessions, including setting agendas and securing guest speakers.
Write, edit, and coordinate development of educational materials, training manuals, newsletters, and promotional materials.
Maintain program records and prepare required reports.
Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degrees from an accredited institution above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
Direct lived or professional experience with justice-involved individuals.
Highly organized and self-motivated.
Skilled or able to quickly learn software platforms, such as Smartsheet.
