Position Description - September 2025 Technical Review Specialist, Mass Save Turnkey Services Hybrid position , ideally located in eastern Massachusetts Want to make a real difference in the world—and enjoy doing it? Summary/Objective Abode plays a critical role in managing the residential component of the Mass Save program, ensuring operational efficiency and that Home Performance Contractors consistently adhere to program standards. Mass Save recently launched Turnkey Services to help moderate-income homeowners with incentives and a clear path for energy-saving upgrades (weatherization, heat pumps, heat pump water heaters). This role reviews documentation submitted by contractors at multiple points—from planning to project completion—and contacts contractors to resolve issues. The role supports contractors to stay on track and ensures homeowners have a positive experience and access to needed support. It is a fitting opportunity to apply and expand technical knowledge to facilitate high-quality projects in communities that need it most. Responsibilities
Reporting to the Program Manager, the Specialist’s responsibilities include: Technical Review of Projects: complete a detailed review of quote submissions, including heat pump project details and other pre-weatherization opportunities (knob and tube removal, mold remediation, vermiculite remediation, structural concerns, etc.), with ongoing project tracking and feedback to contractors.
Ensure contractors' documents and processes are complete and correct in the Mass Save software.
Identify trends from reviews to help the Manager improve overall work processes.
Internal Support: meet regularly with internal teams to review project and client status and broader strategies for program success.
Assist with meetings with contractors to discuss specific projects as needed.
Maintain and update program databases and customer management systems.
Other tasks as assigned by the Manager.
Customer Support: respond to email and phone inquiries related to program needs from customers and contractors; provide ongoing support for resolution of issues.
Qualifications
Strong candidates will have most, if not all, of the following: Experience working hands-on with Mass Save or similar residential energy efficiency programs is highly desirable.
Knowledge of residential construction and/or building science is required.
Experience with heat pump technology and residential heating systems is helpful but not required.
Proficiency with software such as Microsoft Office, Excel, and Salesforce; ability to find and present data clearly across multiple programs.
Detail-oriented, good math skills, ability to multitask and manage many moving pieces within detailed program rules.
Experience in a high-volume transactional role balancing throughput with quality standards.
Clear, effective, structured oral and written communications skills.
Adaptable, flexible, collaborative team player with a positive can-do attitude.
Self-starter who can proactively manage competing demands and changing schedules to complete tasks timely.
Associate’s degree or higher and/or relevant experience.
Compensation and Benefits
This is a full-time, exempt position with total compensation targeted between $65K and $75K, depending on relevant skills and experience. The Specialist will primarily work from home, with some travel to collaborate with staff in Abode’s Concord office and/or attend events or meetings.
