Position Summary Prestigious Registered Investment Company, headquartered in Charlotte, seeks Tax Manager. This new role leads all tax compliance, tax planning, and tax structuring for the company’s investment entities and reports to the company CFO. The ideal candidate will have prior tax experience for an employer or clients that invest in entities on behalf of investors, families, etc., with flow through tax consequences.
Outcomes Tax Compliance Management: Successfully manage and complete the year-end tax compliance process for all entities (Private Funds and Management Company), ensuring accurate and timely filing of K-1s, Federal and State returns, and payments. Legal Entity Management: Maintain up-to-date registrations, licenses, and entity formation information, ensuring compliance with all legal requirements. Tax Audit Leadership : Lead and manage IRS, property tax, and other tax audits, ensuring positive outcomes and effective correspondence with agencies. Tax Planning Execution : Prepare and deliver annual and ad hoc tax estimates (Private Funds and Management Company), ensuring accurate investor communications and compliance with all tax planning requirements. Transaction Structuring : Collaborate with investment teams to properly structure transactions to ensure tax efficiencies and alignment with legal requirements. Investor Compliance : Manage investor-related tax compliance, including withholding elections and side letter requests, ensuring timely and accurate reporting and communication. Technical Expertise: Demonstrated proficiency in U.S. tax compliance, planning, and structuring, particularly in private equity contexts. Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical skills to interpret tax regulations and optimize tax positions for current developments. Communication: Excellent written and oral communication skills, capable of interacting effectively with senior management and third-party investors. Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in managing tax filings, audits, and compliance documentation. Independence and Initiative: Ability to work independently with minimal oversight, manage multiple tasks, and meet demanding deadlines. Ethical Standards: Strong character of integrity and adherence to ethical standards in all professional activities. Technical Proficiency: Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with CPA practices, QuickBooks, or comparable accounting software. Requirements BS degree in accounting, tax or finance CPA highly preferred Minimum of 5 years’ relevant tax experience Superior problem-solving, analytical, and research skills Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to interact with senior management and investors Ability to work independently with limited oversight, multi-task, and meet demanding deadlines in a small team environment Advanced Excel and QuickBooks knowledge, or comparable accounting software
