Administrative Officer 2 (PCN 114006) in Juneau, AK. This position is open to Alaska Residents only. The recruitment period has been broadened and extended to allow for a larger applicant pool. The Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Division of Sport Fish is recruiting for an Administrative Officer 2 located in Juneau. This position reports to the Administrative Operations Manager 2 of Sport Fish and provides supervision, guidance and oversight to ensure the integrity of all administrative functions for the Headquarters Section and regional components. Under general direction, this position performs professional level work in the management of the full range of administrative processes, including development, implementation, review and revision as needed. Supervises an Administrative Assistant 2 and works with regional Program Managers, Administrative Officers and the Accountant 4 in the development and management of the assigned division budget, personnel management and support, including payroll functions, financial management and accounting, procurement of goods/services, contractual arrangements with other governmental agencies, property management, and other administrative functional areas. The incumbent represents the division in discussions and work groups within the department and with other state agencies. Organization, Mission, and Culture
The mission of the Division of Sport Fish is to protect, maintain and improve the valuable sport fisheries in Alaska. The administrative unit provides support to the Division’s biologists, researchers, and technicians serving Alaskans and overseeing Alaska’s wide range of sport fisheries. In addition to the Minimum Qualifications, we are looking for competencies in: Organization, time management, verbal skills, supervision and independent decision making, and a broad knowledge of budgeting, accounting, financial management, procurement, personnel, payroll and administrative policies and procedures; the ability to represent the Division in various forums. Analytical thinking, problem solving, ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Decision making: makes sound, well-informed, and objective decisions; perceives impact and implications; commits to action to accomplish organizational goals. Self-management: sets realistic goals; high level of organization and initiative; works with minimal supervision; demonstrates responsible behavior. Interpersonal skills: develops and maintains effective relationships with others. Special Note: A valid driver’s license is required. Minimum Qualifications
Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in the following areas: Administration and Management: Knowledge of planning, coordination, and execution of business functions, resource allocation, and production. Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving: Logical, systematic, and sequential approach to address problems or opportunities. Budget Administration: Knowledge of budget principles and practices including preparation, justification, reporting, and execution; relationships among program, budget, accounting, and reporting systems. Financial Management: Prepares, justifies, and administers the budget; plans and monitors expenditures; assesses financial condition of an organization. Organizational Awareness: Understands the organization’s mission, functions, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations. Equivalent to those typically gained by: any combination of preparatory post-secondary education and/or progressively responsible experience providing administrative support in business/public administration, finance, accounting, HR management, or related fields.
