Title: Auditor 1 Agency: People With Developmental Disabilities, Office for Location: North Syracuse, NY County: Onondaga Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent Salary Range: From $66,951 to $85,138 Annually (SG-18); additional trainee levels may apply based on education and experience. Duties Description

Under the general direction of an Auditor 2, the Auditor 1 performs and assists in planning and executing audits. Responsibilities include: Research the organization to be audited and help establish audit scope and timeframe Plan audit activities and tasks, and schedule Participate in entrance conferences to explain goals and gain access to records Conduct audits by performing tests, reconciliations, and evaluations to ensure proper processing of transactions Perform cash counts and inventory verifications Evaluate internal controls for strengths and weaknesses Apply generally accepted accounting and auditing principles and standards Prepare working papers, narrative audit findings, and recommendations Discuss findings with organization representatives and participate in exit conferences As auditor-in-charge, lead other Auditors 1 and Auditor Trainees as required Contribute to development of bureau audit manuals or training programs Perform ad-hoc personal allowance reviews as necessary Additional Information: Schedule: Compressed work week; Monday–Wednesday 7:30 AM–5:30 PM, Thursday 7:30 AM–5:00 PM, Friday off May be filled at Auditor Trainee 1 (SG-14), Auditor Trainee 2 (SG-16), or Auditor 1 (SG-18) based on qualifications; progression from trainee to full performance as applicable Minimum Qualifications

Open Competitive for: Auditor Trainee 1 (SG-14): bachelor’s degree in accounting/auditing/taxation or bachelor’s with 24 semester credits in accounting/auditing/taxation (note: certain courses do not count toward the 24 credits) Auditor Trainee 2 (SG-16): bachelor’s with 24 credits in accounting/auditing/taxation AND one year of professional accounting/auditing experience, or a master’s degree in accounting/auditing/taxation Auditor 1 (SG-18): bachelor’s with 24 credits in accounting/auditing/taxation AND two years of professional experience, or a master’s degree with relevant experience, or a currently valid CPA license Note: Credits for business law, economics, statistics, and many finance courses may not count toward the 24 credits. Certain activities (teaching, bookkeeping, payroll, AR/AP, or tax return preparation) are not qualifying experience.
