Overview

The Surgical Technologist handles instruments, supplies and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. Has an understanding of the procedure being performed. Has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field. He/she will perform other related duties as needed to maintain department cost containment, efficiency, as well as quality performance. Responsibilities

Assist with preparing the operating room and surgical supplies, maintaining the sterile field, and passing instruments during procedures. Experience

Is competent in the role of Surgical Technologist and displays knowledge and ability to independently perform roles and tasks related to the field of surgical technology. A minimum of 1 year of work experience as a Surgical Technologist is preferred. Education

High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Post-high school education, certification or diploma required. Completion of a Surgical Technologist program, completion of Military Operating Room Specialist course or the Froedtert Health sponsored apprentice II program required. Licensure

American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required within 90 days of hire. Certification as a Surgical Technologist is preferred. Position Details
