Job Summary and Responsibilities As a Labor & Delivery Nurse at St. Mary Medical Center—now part of CommonSpirit Health formed by the alignment of Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) and Dignity Health—you’ll guide patients through labor and childbirth, focusing on the safety of mother and baby with kindness and compassion.
As a nurse in this department you will have varying roles:
Triage walk-ins to determine if a patient is in labor, water is broken, false alarm, etc.
Support pregnant patients in labor including induction, epidural assistance (if needed), general pain management, and fetal monitoring.
Assist and circulate in the operating room for cesarean sections, tubal ligation, cerclage, and emergency procedures.
Educate patients on various interventions or procedures—medications (name and purpose), exams, and labor stages.
Assess newborn and provide care.
Communicate with the care management team including anesthesiologist, physician, midwife, lactation nurse, charge nurse, postpartum unit, patient and family.

Job Requirements
1–2 years of Labor & Delivery experience.
Current California RN license.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS).
Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification.

Pay Range: $54.86–$68.51 per hour.
