The Energy Manager will be responsible for providing administrative, technical, and professional support and engaging with other municipal, state, and federal officials as well as private sector consultants. The Energy Manager coordinates with the Energy, Environment, and Sustainability Committee, their consultants, and the public and obtains funding including preparing applications for various grant programs, develops and manages project budgets and grant funds, as necessary. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Acts as the municipal liaison for the Community Choice Power Supply Program. Provide customer service for residents with aggregation questions and/or concerns; MaintainsGreenhouse Gas InventoryfortheCityofAmesburyanddevelopthecity’sfirstClimateActionPlan; Designsandimplementsinnovativeandeffectiveprogramsandpoliciestoachieveenergyand resourcesustainabilityformunicipal,commercial,andresidentialsectors; Researches and identifies funding opportunities for further sustainability work such as resiliencypreparedness,energyreliability,andclimatechangeimpacts.ThismayincludeGreenCommunity, MassSave, MVP, and SMRP; Coordinates and implements departmental, municipal and community wide projects and initiatives,includingbutnotlimitedtodataanalysisanddatainputofthemunicipalenergy accounts; Responsible for the City’s Large Building Energy Reporting in accordance with MGL and coordinated by DOER and related or emerging state reporting requirements; Develops and implements educational outreach to engage city staff, businesses and residents in initiatives related to energy, climate change, and sustainability; Coordinates with municipal departments to integrate sustainable values into city plans, programs, and policies; and, Worksonothersustainabilityandenvironmentalissues,suchasresiliency,waterquality/conservation,recycling/composting,wastereductionandrelatedregionalinitiatives. Supervision Received:

TheEnergyManagerworksunderthegeneraldirection and supervision of the Director of Community and Economic Development; follows established department policies and procedures. The Energy Manager receives additional guidance as needed fromtheConservation Agent and followspolicydirection from the Mayor. Minimum Qualifications:

TheEnergyManagermusthaveabachelor’sdegreeoradvancedtraininginEnvironmentalScienceor related field and/or related professional experience including development and implementation of energy efficiency, renewable energy, climate change, and/or sustainability programs and at least 5 years of professional experience; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.All employment offers are conditional upon passing a reference and Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) check. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The Office of Community and Economic Development, Municipal Development Center, 39 South Hunt Road. Work is largely scheduled during regular City Hall business hours, but also includes evening meetings and occasional weekend field work. Administrative work is performed in the office, at meetings (including occasional evening meetings as assigned) and in the location of sitework. Administrative work is performed in a moderately noisy office with site visits performed at times around active construction operations with higher levels of noise. Position entails driving and inspecting sites which may entail accessing uneven surfaces and exposure to hazardous conditions associated with active construction sites. Work is performed inside and out-of-doors in all types of weather conditions. The position requires the operation of vehicle and office computers, printer, calculator, telephone, copier, and all other standard office equipment. The position makes frequent or periodic contact with state and federal agencies, vendors, other departments, contracted or bidding contractors, developers, engineers, architects, landscape architects, and other site and building designers, attorneys, consultants, the Mayor, City Councilors, committee members, other municipalities, local businesses, and members of the public. Communication is frequently in person, by telephone, traditional mail and e-mail, and virtual using web-based meeting programs. Skills and Qualifications:

Thorough knowledge of the principles of energy efficiency, renewable energy, climate change and sustainability. Strong analytical, research and conceptual skills. Strongfacilitationandcollaborationskills. Grantandproposalwritingexperiencestronglypreferred. Ability to research, analyze and synthesize complex information, develop, and present recommendations and prepare concise written reports, correspondence, and recommendations. Abilitytoworkindependentlyandtocompletedailyactivitiesaccordingtoworkschedule. Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions. While performing the functions of this job, the employee is required to sit, stand, walk and talk and hear; is frequently required to use hands to use, handle, or feel objects; occasionally reaches with hands and arms; kneels and bends to inspect projects; employee must be able to access all levels of a construction site and traverse uneven terrain; specific vision abilities required include close and distance vision, peripheral and depth perception and the ability to adjust focus; ability to operate a vehicle; ability to occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.; must be able to hear normal sounds, distinguish sound as voice patterns or vehicle sounds and communicate through human speech.
