Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Travel Position Location: Asheville, NC Job Type: Travel Contract Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 3×12 Nights Pay: $2,080.80/week (plus $2,500 completion bonus per contract, up to $7,500 after three contracts) Job Description ATC Healthcare is seeking an experienced Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week travel assignment in Asheville, North Carolina. The PCU RN will care for patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring, ventilator and tracheostomy management, and other advanced medical interventions. The ideal candidate will be clinically competent, adaptable, and confident in managing both step-down and medical-surgical patients in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities Provide compassionate and evidence-based nursing care to step-down and medical-surgical patients with varying acuity levels. Monitor, assess, and document patient status, including cardiac rhythms, vital signs, and responses to treatment. Manage patients with tracheostomies, chest tubes, cardiac drips, and stable ventilators. Perform wound care and dressing changes following physician and unit protocols. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe and coordinated patient care. Utilize Cerner EMR to document patient assessments, interventions, and progress notes accurately. Float as needed to other medical-surgical and progressive care units. Support and assist patient mobility using safe lift equipment. Educate patients and families on care plans, procedures, and discharge instructions. Adhere to infection control, patient safety, and quality standards. Qualifications Active North Carolina RN license or Compact State RN license (required). Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred). Minimum of 2 years of recent nursing experience (step-down or PCU experience required). Experience working with tracheostomy and chest tube patients (required). Prior experience using Cerner EMR (preferred). BLS and ACLS certifications (required). Proof of COVID-19 vaccination and recent tuberculosis test required. Strong clinical assessment, critical-thinking, and communication skills. Ability to manage a 1:3–4 ratio in step-down and 1:4–6 ratio in med-surg settings. Flexible, team-oriented personality with a high level of clinical competence.
