Role Overview
We are seeking a high-performing
Director of Business Development
to drive our growth across the
East Coast USA
ecosystem . This role is
80% hunter / 20% farmer
and will be responsible for winning new biotech and mid-pharma clients, progressing active leads, and expanding strategic accounts. The ideal candidate will have a
strong network in the Boston/East Coast biotech community , a deep understanding of
early drug discovery CRO services , and a demonstrated ability to close scientific, high-value partnerships. Missions Identify, engage, and convert new business opportunities across
seed-stage, VC-backed biotech, and mid-size pharma
accounts. Represent Novalix’s
early discovery capabilities , with particular emphasis on: DNA-Encoded Library (DEL) screening Medicinal chemistry Biophysics and structural biology (including Cryo-EM) Pharmacology and DMPK Convert ~30% of ongoing discussions into active business Support ~20% growth in existing key accounts through relationship management and strategic cross-selling Collaborate with internal teams (scientific, proposals, marketing, lead generation) to deliver compelling proposals and presentations Maintain accurate records and forecasting in CRM and pipeline tools Profile Minimum
4 years of business development experience
with a preclinical CRO or drug discovery service provider Solid scientific background (life sciences degree required; advanced degree preferred) Demonstrated track record of successful
early discovery deal-making Strong understanding of the
preclinical R&D landscape Existing network within the
New England biotech ecosystem
is required Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a global BD team Location:
Preferably Boston area, MA (remote with regular regional travel) Region covered:
