Summary
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) - a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, award amount (up to $200,000), and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply. Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending completion of training or license requirements may be tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA-employed physicians who met the requirements at their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements. Basic Requirements:
United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited, in accordance with VA Policy. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree from an approved medical school. Current full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S. Residency Training: Completion of an approved residency training program leading to eligibility for board certification. Residents enrolled in ACGME/AOA accredited programs may be appointed as "Physician Resident Providers" (PRPs), who must be fully licensed physicians and may only be appointed on an intermittent or fee-basis. Proficiency in spoken and written English. Preferred Experience: At least one year of Primary Care and Women's Health experience; board certification or eligibility is preferred. Physical Requirements: Must pass a pre-employment physical, including lifting, pushing, reaching, use of fingers, walking, standing, kneeling, visual and auditory requirements. Duties
Diagnose, treat, and manage a panel of patients in a primary care setting. Provide comprehensive patient-centered care, identify health problems, and use risk management principles. Order and evaluate diagnostic tests, adhere to clinical guidelines, and conduct preventive screenings. Participate in multidisciplinary activities, shared decision-making, and document encounters accurately in the electronic medical record. Utilize Telehealth services, supervise mid-level providers, and report to the Chief of Primary Care Service. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, with possible extended hours or occasional Saturdays.
