WSP is initiating a search for a Lead Civil/Site Development Engineer to join the Power & Energy team in Houston, TX. The following locations will be considered: Overland Park, KS; Oradell, NJ; Mount Laurel, NJ; Atlanta, GA; Seattle, WA; Boise, ID; Hailey, ID. The candidate will work on projects within power generation and support a growing organization that meets client objectives and solves challenges. Responsibilities Develop site layout, grading, storm water management, vehicular circulation, underground utilities, retaining walls, and wastewater management.

Earthwork and erosion control calculations to manage environmental impact and cost.

Exposure to a range of power plant technologies including biomass, municipal waste, geothermal, hydrogen, fossil fuel, carbon capture, battery energy storage, hydro, and solar.

Surveying, geotechnical, structural, mechanical, electrical, and discipline coordination.

Maintain strong working relationships with internal teams, clients, material suppliers, contractors, and others affecting project quality, schedule, and cost.

Hydrology and hydraulic calculations and studies for stormwater management systems, including detention and infiltration to prevent flooding impacts.

Supervise and mentor less experienced engineers and CAD designers.

Participate in and lead business development activities for the company and Civil Discipline.

Interface with state and local permitting agencies and construction entities for US and international projects.

Perform detailed engineering reviews of work submitted by others.

Coordinate with the Project Engineer/Manager to ensure project scope, budget, and quality expectations are met.

Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies.

Qualifications BSCE (Bachelor of Science in Civil or Environmental Engineering) from an ABET-accredited university.

7+ years of relevant post-education experience as a civil engineer.

Professional Engineer (PE) license.

Experience in site design for utilities, industrial facilities, municipal infrastructure, storm drainage and stormwater management design, site grading, roadway and utility design, sanitary sewer design/analysis, construction specification development, and construction bid packages.

Proficient with design tools including Autodesk Civil 3D; stormwater design software such as HydroCAD; experience managing Civil 3D CAD designers.

Experience using Microsoft Office; effective self-leadership, attention to detail, results orientation, and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with team members remotely (MS Teams, email, phone).

Proven safety record and ability to abide by WSP health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies.

Ability to accommodate project-specific schedules that may extend beyond a typical workweek.

Occasional travel may be required depending on project requirements.

Preferred Qualifications Power plant and substation site design experience.

Proficiency with Autodesk Civil 3D and HydroCAD; surveying and retaining wall design experience.

Managerial and leadership skills; potential to become an Area Lead.

Expected Salary (all locations): $98,300 - $175,230
