We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to join the Ports & Maritime team in the Northeast region of the United States to lead a project design team. Key Responsibilities
Work with internal and external Discipline Leads to ensure the timely and quality delivery of the project design documents. Manage the project design schedule and program in accordance with program objectives. Review and monitor project design progress and cooperate with the project manager to proactively resolve delivery issues. Resolve internal design conflicts and issues collaboratively with Discipline Leads, client, and subject‑matter experts as needed for effective conflict resolution. Ensure completion of the design scope of work to the client’s satisfaction, while upholding Jacobs’ safety, environmental, and project performance expectations. Establish and implement procedures for conflict resolution, design integration, constructability, and value engineering reviews. Provide high‑level responsiveness and coordination among design teams to minimize design delays, rework, and conflicts. Present and communicate to the project manager and client the progress on design and any design issues that need resolution. Work with our digital delivery and production teams (CAD, BIM, etc.) and quality manager to ensure that proper procedures and guidelines facilitate the design process. Required Qualifications
10+ years of design management or design delivery experience for large‑scale infrastructure projects involving multi‑disciplinary teams. Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field. Proven design delivery experience for transportation‑related infrastructure. Strong working knowledge in design and construction, project delivery methods, and team building. Excellent working knowledge and understanding of design risk management. Ability to work with multi‑disciplinary teams based in multiple locations and manage remote project delivery teams. Ideal Additional Experience
Professional Engineer registration in NY/NJ. Experience in the planning or design of the civil and utilities infrastructure at container, cruise, liquid bulk, or dry bulk terminals. Experience in the layout and design of container yards and associated gate facilities. Experience in the design and/or construction of heavy‑duty pavements. Existing client relationships with port authorities and/or other organizations involved in the development of waterfront projects. Benefits
