Position Overview Under the general direction of the IT Manager I of the Information Security and Oversight Section, the Information Security Technical Specialist demonstrates a depth of leadership and expertise in relation to Information Security Engineering. The incumbent performs a wide variety of tasks requiring innovative problem solving where guidance is not readily available and optimizes and applies architecture solutions for the benefit of the overall organization and advises management or formulates information technology strategy and policy.
Key Responsibilities The incumbent is responsible for multi-disciplinary research, planning, organizing, coordinating, and directing Information Security tasks at the Franchise Tax Board (FTB) including policy development and enforcement. This position performs functions that fall within the Information Technology domain of Information Security Engineering.
Desirable Qualifications
Experience ensuring systems and services are in compliance with NIST SP 800-53, State Administrative Manual (SAM), Statewide Information Management Manual (SIMM), and IRS Publication 1075
Extensive knowledge of Information Security Policies, Standards, Procedures and Guidelines
Extensive knowledge of risk management strategies and programs
Experience managing and leading large IT projects
CISSP certification a plus
Knowledge of FTB's Network/System/Application Architecture
Knowledge and Experience with Governance Risk and Compliance Solution
Experience with cyber security tools, network topologies, intrusion detection and data loss prevention technologies
Ability to analyze issues, define opportunities, and recommend effective solutions
Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships, and deliver excellent customer service
Ability to work collaboratively with multi-disciplined work groups
Ability to multi-task and work under pressures
Outstanding written skills for preparing reports and briefings for audience at all levels of organization
Outstanding analytical and problem solving abilities, prioritization and time management skills
