Project Manager – UC Santa Cruz Location:

Remote Schedule:

Full‑time, 40 hrs/week, Mon‑Fri, Day shift

Job Overview The Project Manager leads cross‑functional teams to deliver projects on schedule, within budget, and aligned with strategic objectives. The role serves as the primary liaison between internal stakeholders and external partners, fostering a service‑oriented culture and ensuring customer expectations are met.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the full project lifecycle—initiation, planning, execution, closure—using appropriate frameworks (Waterfall, Agile, or hybrid).

Develop, maintain, and communicate transparent project documentation, including charters, schedules, risk logs, and status reports.

Manage project budgets, tracking actual spend versus planned budget, and provide monthly executive‑level status updates.

Facilitate stakeholder engagement, ensuring clear communication of requirements, deliverables, risks, and milestones.

Drive change management by updating plans, workflows, and documentation to reflect evolving priorities.

Support vendor contracts and manage external partnerships to deliver agreed outcomes.

Collaborate with product management to integrate project milestones into the broader product development lifecycle.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field; equivalent experience acceptable.

Significant experience applying project management principles to achieve project objectives.

Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Jira, Confluence).

Strong written and verbal communication skills at all organizational levels.

Demonstrated leadership, collaboration, and customer‑service orientation.

Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.

Excellent organizational and problem‑solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or equivalent Agile certification.

Experience with contract deliverables and educational assessment cycles.

Appointment & Benefits

Salary: $99,040 – $106,400 per year (budgeted).

Travel up to 25% of the time.

Remote work with compliance with UCSC telecommuting agreement.
