Role and Responsibilities Skilled Linux Administrator / Engineer to manage, optimize, and secure our enterprise Linux environments across cloud and on-prem infrastructures. Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, or SUSE) in physical, virtual, and cloud environments. Manage user accounts, permissions, sudo policies, and system security compliance. Monitor system performance, diagnose issues, and implement tuning measures for high availability and reliability. Apply patches, upgrades, and perform regular maintenance using automation tools like Ansible, Chef, or Shell/Bash scripts. Configure and maintain web/application servers (Apache, Tomcat, JBoss, Nginx). Implement and support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures. Collaborate with DevOps and cloud teams to integrate systems with AWS, Azure, or other cloud platforms. Automate repetitive tasks and configuration management using Bash, Python, or Ansible. Manage networking aspects such as DNS, NTP, routing, and firewall rules. Implement and monitor logging and alerting systems (e.g., Splunk, ELK, Prometheus, Grafana). Participate in incident response and root cause analysis for production issues. Maintain documentation for system configurations, operational procedures, and runbooks. Minimum Qualification 5+ years of experience in Linux systems administration (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu). Strong knowledge of Bash scripting and automation frameworks (Ansible, Puppet, Chef). Experience with virtualization (VMware, KVM) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure). Hands-on experience with web and application servers (Apache, Tomcat, Nginx). Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab, GitHub Actions). Good understanding of networking concepts – DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, firewalls, load balancers. Experience with monitoring and logging tools (CloudWatch, Splunk, Grafana, ELK). Strong troubleshooting, performance tuning, and analytical skills. Familiarity with security hardening, patch management, and compliance standards (CIS, NIST, etc.). Preferred Qualification Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Certifications: Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) / Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) AWS Certified SysOps Administrator or AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate) Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus. Exposure to IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation) is an advantage.
