Grant Accountant
We are partnering with a mission-driven nonprofit organization located near the University of Chicago to hire a detail-oriented
Grant Accountant . This role plays a key part in ensuring the financial integrity of grant funding and supporting programs that make a meaningful impact in the community.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the financial aspects of federal, state, and private grants, including budgeting, compliance, and reporting.
Prepare timely and accurate grant-related financial statements and reports for funders and internal stakeholders.
Track and reconcile grant expenditures, ensuring alignment with grant agreements and organizational policies.
Collaborate with program managers to monitor budgets and provide guidance on allowable costs.
Assist in the preparation of audits, ensuring proper documentation of grant activity.
Support the Finance Director and leadership team with ad hoc analysis and reporting.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
3+ years of experience in grant accounting or nonprofit financial management.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and federal grant compliance (Uniform Guidance preferred).
Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills.
Proficiency in Excel; experience with nonprofit accounting systems a plus.
