Job Description and Duties Under the supervision of a Senior Transportation Surveyor, the incumbent will perform a variety of tasks related to the California Public Records Act for records maintained by the Office of Surveys. The incumbent will be assigned to the Office of Surveys Public Counter at the District Office; Divisional and/or Departmental needs may necessitate assignment to any office within District 7, which includes Los Angeles and Ventura Counties.

Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the ASSOCIATE GOVERNMENTAL PROGRAM ANALYST exam. For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions. Working Conditions

The incumbent will primarily work in a cubicle workspace within a climate‑controlled office under artificial lighting;

The incumbent will work in a professional work setting;

The incumbent will work for extended periods of time at a computer workstation;

The incumbent will have frequent and unexpected interactions with both internal and public customers seeking access to CPRA records maintained by the Office of Surveys;

Unless unusual circumstances dictate and not without the prior approval of supervision, the incumbent will be expected to report daily at the District Office in order to staff the Public Counter located in the Office of Surveys. Because of potential interactions with the public and the statutory need to provide access to public records during regular working hours, this position is not eligible for telework.

Possession of a valid driver’s license is required when operating a State owned or leased vehicle.

STATEMENT OF QUALIFICATIONS – PUBLIC RECORDS ASSOCIATE – OFFICE OF SURVEYS A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is required. The SOQ shall not exceed two pages in length, must contain one‑inch margins on all sides, and be written using an 11‑point Palatino font. Each question should be addressed separately and in order. Resumes, letters, or other materials will not be considered as a response to the SOQ. Failure to include and complete the SOQ may result in disqualification from the interview process.

Briefly describe a past engagement where you provided customer service to the public. Please describe the customer service you provided, the setting, how long you served in this capacity, and describe the typical client during those interactions.

Give details of your past experience using the Microsoft Office suite of software, more specifically those programs in that suite that you used previously. Of the programs within this suite, please rank those programs in order of your strongest to weakest program. Identify any programs in the that suite, please rank those programs in order of your strongest to weakest program.

Describe a past engagement where you prepared analytical reports on a recurring basis using the Microsoft Office suite of software. Describe the specific programs along with the output from those programs used within those reports. Describe the types of recurring analytical reports you created during this engagement along with the specific programs used to create those reports.

Give an example during a past engagement where you coordinated multiple budgetary requests and responses from a crop of busy individuals not working at the same location as yourself.
