Marketing & Communications Specialist
Business and Technology Extension Programs of the UNC System – Raleigh, North Carolina
Base pay range: $35,880 – $96,560 per year
Responsibilities
Build and manage the annual SBTDC social media strategy, creating schedules and monitoring progress.
Segment and target audiences on social media (Partners, Clients, Stakeholders).
Produce social media content using design, writing, and editing skills; follow statewide brand standards. Assist in designing marketing materials for statewide and regional events.
Advise supervisor on social media strategy; build content and schedule via aggregator (e.g., Hootsuite).
Maintain relationships with State Administrative Office staff and field staff statewide; provide communications training on social media marketing, graphic design, and event materials.
Support SBTDC clients with social media and marketing research.
Collaborate with Communications Team on SBTDC website and intranet content.
Maintain familiarity with SBTDC’s Strategic Plan and services.
Analyze social media performance and report monthly.
Design and maintain updates to digital media kits; manage information gathering and stakeholder input.
Maintain Adobe Creative Cloud brand kit; create flyers and social media templates.
Assemble and design multiple digital newsletters internally and externally.
Act autonomously as photographer at official SBTDC events; edit and disseminate photos using Adobe Lightroom.
Manage and reply to comments and reposts on social media channels without higher-level oversight.
Occasional opportunities to take on additional duties and statewide initiatives.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Proven experience in professional copywriting, editing, and content creation.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Collaborative cross‑functional teamwork, especially with marketing and web development teams.
Technical proficiency: Adobe Creative Suite (Express, Photoshop, Acrobat) and Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint).
Valid NC driver’s license required.
Preferred Qualifications
Marketing and branding knowledge with graphic design skills.
Excellent knowledge of social media marketing.
Experience designing HTML email marketing campaigns and newsletters.
Photography experience.
Previous related experience.
