Overview EY Private Tax is a growing practice that serves privately held companies ranging from family‑owned businesses to private equity‑owned firms. The team focuses on high‑growth private companies and offers a diverse portfolio of challenging work, including technical tax planning and compliance projects. With ample support and training, candidates have opportunities to progress to manager.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare or review federal and state tax returns for U.S. corporations and some partnerships, including foreign reporting requirements for cross‑border compliance.
Provide tax research, drafting memoranda, and quantitative modeling for private client tax advisory services.
Identify and communicate significant tax matters to managers, senior managers, managing directors, and partners.
Liaise and develop relationships with other service lines and subject‑matter professionals.
Build effective long‑term client relationships and understand unique client needs.
Communicate complex tax issues to non‑tax professionals and clients.
Share technical and best‑practice knowledge and maintain expertise in the field.
Identify and respond to risks and opportunities to improve services and processes.
Skills and Attributes for Success
Bachelor’s degree in a related field with tax, business, or financial planning experience.
Eligibility for the CPA certification or membership in The Bar.
Prior experience with ASC 740 tax provisions.
Excellent collaboration and negotiation skills, with confidence to challenge colleagues and stakeholders.
Minimum of 3 years of professional services or tax organization experience.
Commitment to continuous learning.
Proficiency with tax software such as RIA, CCH IntelliConnect, OneSource, BNA, or Lexis Nexis.
Willingness to travel as needed and work in a balanced hybrid environment.
