Base pay range: $118,425.00/yr - $145,039.00/yr
Pay range provided by NYS Office of Information Technology Services. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience.
Responsibilities
Serve as manager of a team responsible for regular meetings with CTO technical teams to ensure that security is a consideration of the design and operation of CTO systems in areas such as platforms, identity management, networking, AI, operational technology, and other shared services.
Lead discussions in meetings discussing technical solutions and options regarding new IT systems and proposed changes to IT systems to ensure that information security issues are recognized and addressed at design stages.
Manage technical security reviews of systems and architecture in the team’s specific area of expertise and assist as needed in supporting other teams.
Participate in workgroups to develop solutions and standards for IT systems.
Serve as an information security expert and evaluate systems and contracts for alignment with agency and State information security policies for systems developed by CTO.
Ensure that all communications, processes, and teams within Information Security Engineering are done in consideration of the operational concerns and workloads of peer teams throughout CISO and CTO and that staff maintain a collaborative attitude and open communications required to successfully carry out the mission of CISO and CTO.
Work with other SAE managers to manage the security review process for ITS shared services and applications and collaborate with CTO groups to provide software architectural guidance, training, and support.
Monitor and remain aware of information security industry trends, tools, and techniques.
Provide recommendations for secure/hardened configurations of servers, platforms, networks, and other IT systems.
Perform the full range of supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with at least 15 credit hours in cybersecurity, information assurance or information technology and five years of information technology experience, including four years of information security or information assurance experience and three years at a supervisory level or one year at a managerial level.
If candidates do not have at least 15 course credits in cybersecurity, information assurance, or information technology, an additional year of general information technology experience is required. Appropriate information security or information assurance experience may substitute for the bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis; an associate’s degree requires an additional two years of general information technology experience. Experience solely in information security or information assurance may substitute for the general information technology experience.
