About the Job – Your Role
In this role, you’ll serve as a senior‑level technical expert responsible for supporting and maintaining multiple statewide networks and server environments across the Oregon Department of Corrections. Your work will ensure secure, efficient, and reliable IT operations across multiple jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities
Administer and maintain DOC Windows servers statewide, including backups, performance tuning, and user account management.
Provide advanced troubleshooting for hardware, software, and network issues beyond Service Desk capabilities.
Install, test, and configure server software, OS updates, and client applications.
Evaluate, design, test, document, and implement non‑standard software and hardware solutions.
Administer TCP/IP protocols and support AS/400, Windows, DHCP, and Proxy servers.
Deliver user training and orientation tailored to varying levels of technical expertise.
Respond to escalated connectivity issues, file permissions, and storage allocation concerns.
Coordinate with vendors to resolve complex hardware/software issues and ensure compatibility.
Assist with planning and implementing new systems and technology upgrades across the DOC network.
Support Azure Hybrid cloud infrastructure.

Minimum Qualifications Five (5) years of information systems experience in planning, design, development, coordination, documentation, and implementation of information systems, including Microsoft Active Directory, Windows Server Administration, System Center, Java, Certificate PKI, Azure Hybrid environments, and PowerShell.
OR an Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
OR a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field with one (1) year of information systems experience in Microsoft Active Directory, PowerShell, Windows Server Administration, and Azure Hybrid environments.
Special Qualifications
Must have a valid driver's license.
Requested Skills
Advanced system administration skills, including professional experience managing Microsoft Windows Servers, user accounts, system backups, and performance optimization.
Strong knowledge of PowerShell, System Center Service Manager, System Center Configuration Manager, SharePoint, Internet Information Services (IIS), and Internal Certificate PKI.
Expertise in technical troubleshooting, capable of resolving complex hardware, software, and connectivity issues in a multi‑platform, multi‑vendor environment.
Experience with software and patch management, including testing, installing, and deploying server software, as well as evaluating and integrating non‑standard software requests.
Demonstrated ability to provide effective user support and deliver training by clearly conveying technical information to individuals with varying levels of technical proficiency.
Familiarity with DHCP, Proxy, and Microsoft Exchange implementation and integration in enterprise environments.
Experience coordinating with vendors and supporting IT projects, including resource planning, hardware/software evaluation, and implementation of statewide technology solutions.
Excellent communication and documentation skills.
