LOCATION OF POSITION MDH - Frederick County Health Department, 350 Montevue Lane, Frederick, MD 21702.

GRADE 16.

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB This position is responsible for the overall supervision of the Kids Like Us Program (KLU), a human service program that is unique to Frederick County, Maryland. KLU targets high‑risk youth adversely impacted by parental/caregiver substance use disorders. KLU provides a supportive group that is informed by art therapy principles to the target population using established program practices and fidelity. This position plans, coordinates, trains, supervises, and evaluates the work of subordinate mental health professionals. This position also provides annual training for collaborating school counselors. This position represents the Frederick County Health Department, Behavioral Health Services (BHS) in cooperative relationships with other agencies and institutions, especially Frederick County Public Schools. This is a grant‑funded position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Three years of professional experience in assisting in the coordination of a health‑related program(s) or referring people to governmental and private resources.

Notes: Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university on a year‑for‑year basis for the required experience. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Health Care Administration classifications or Civil Affairs Specialist specialty codes in the health‑related field of work on a year‑for‑year basis for the required experience and education.

DESI OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS The desired candidate should be licensed as a Clinical Professional Counselor, Clinical Social Worker, or Clinical Professional Art Therapist and have experience working with youth.
