Overview

The Project & Facilities Management Department (PFM) is recruiting for professional Capital Improvement Project Managers III to oversee capital and maintenance improvement projects, coordinate major renovation and replacement of County facilities, and coordinate site selection, space needs studies, design criteria, architectural services, and construction management for County-owned properties and infrastructure. Capital Improvement Project Managers III are responsible for large and more complex capital improvement projects and may provide training and act as a team lead. Responsibilities

Oversee capital and maintenance improvement projects and coordinate major renovations and replacements of present facilities. Coordinate site selection, development, space needs studies, design criteria, architectural services, and construction management of County-owned properties and utility infrastructure. Lead or participate in project teams for large and complex capital improvement projects; provide training and act as a team lead when appropriate. Salary and Benefits

Salary up to $129,729.60 annually (DOQ). Annual across-the-board salary increases in February 2026; bi-annual step increases of 2.5% up to Step 14. Modified Benefits Option (MBO) may boost base pay by $1.75/hour to $131,976.00 annually. Benefits overview includes health benefits, paid time off, retirement perks, and other voluntary programs. Pre-Employment Process:

Applicants must successfully pass a background check and a job-related physical exam, including a drug test, prior to employment. Travel:

Travel throughout the County is required. A valid California Class C driver license is required at time of appointment. Employees may be required to use personal vehicles with proof of automobile liability insurance. Mileage reimbursement is available. Physical:

Positions entail duties such as frequent sitting; occasional walking, standing, bending, and squatting; fine manipulation; near and far vision requirements; and occasional lifting up to 10 pounds. May involve exposure to dust, gas, toxic materials, noise, and temperature/humidity extremes and use of protective equipment. Sponsorship:

Experience:

Three (3) years of project management experience over multiple capital improvement and building projects with responsibility from conception to completion, including developing/updating project schedules, tracking budgets, managing Requests for Information, and oversight of design and construction processes. Education:

Associate Degree (or higher) in Project Management, Construction Management, Public Administration, Business, or a closely related field. Education Substitution:

You may substitute the associate degree if you meet one of the following options: (1) completion of a formal apprenticeship resulting in journey-level status; (2) one additional year of qualifying experience with 15 semester units of coursework in related fields; or (3) two additional years of qualifying experience. Preferred and Additional Qualifications

Demonstrated leadership with strong written and oral communication skills. Strong construction project management experience. Detail-oriented with the ability to prepare clear, concise, accurate reports. Strong presentation skills and effective negotiation abilities. Understanding of the County Board approval process and experience preparing Board Agenda Items (BAI). Bachelor’s Degree in related fields is preferred. Five or more years of project management experience over multiple capital improvement and building projects. Application Procedure
