Overview

The Physician Assistant assists, monitors, and manages the day-to-day needs of patients as requested by, in conjunction with, and under the supervision of a physician. Performs the duties and responsibilities of a Physician Assistant according to customary and generally accepted medical standards. This role evaluates and diagnoses musculoskeletal conditions, assists surgeons in the OR, and educates patients and family members on treatment planning and implementation. The PA will report to the Hewitt, NJ office five days a week, providing Orthopedic care. Monday-Friday 8a-4p with on-call commitment. On-call commitment to be determined based on physician needs. PA with Orthopedic experience preferred; in-office patient care with referrals to appropriate orthopedic specialists. Responsibilities

Provide medical services under the supervision of a licensed physician, consistent with the PA's education, training, and experience. Perform and document accurate history and physical assessments appropriate for the patient's age, gender, and clinical problem. Order, perform, and interpret laboratory tests and diagnostic studies in collaboration with physicians and consultants as appropriate. Manage general medical and surgical conditions based on knowledge of etiologies, risk factors, pathophysiology, and pharmacologic indications and contraindications. Prescribe medications safely and effectively in accordance with best practices, hospital policy, and NJ regulations; provide patient education as needed. Promote the Hackensack Meridian Health PA practice recognition through conferences, publications, and presentations. Provide patient- and family-centered, compassionate, and effective care for health promotion and disease treatment. Practice in accordance with Medical Staff bylaws and delineation of privileges. Apply evidence-based and value-based medicine to improve patient care practices and outcomes. Evaluate transition of care planning, considering resource utilization, cost, quality, safety, and self-management for chronic conditions. Demonstrate clinical expertise through advanced assessment and procedural skills pertinent to the practice specialty. Translate best practices into clinical care by evaluating current protocols and standards of care. Provide culturally sensitive and educational health management education to patients and families. Facilitate coordinated care and clear communication among the healthcare team through daily interdisciplinary rounds. Advocate for patients and families; identify and address obstacles to care progression and escalate issues as appropriate. Serve as a clinical resource for the multidisciplinary team; address clinical, process, and system improvement opportunities. Participate in organizational and departmental meetings, committees, and workgroups as necessary. Demonstrate accountability for professional practice and adhere to ethical principles regarding confidentiality, informed consent, and adverse outcomes. Promote a collaborative work environment aligned with organizational mission, values, and pillars. Mentor other PAs, precept PA students, and participate in educational programs as a clinical expert. Identify patient/family educational needs and develop appropriate teaching materials. Promote innovation by integrating new clinical knowledge into practice; participate in clinical research as appropriate. Identify ethical care issues and coordinate interdisciplinary meetings to resolve them. Comply with HMH and department-specific scope of services, policies, and procedures applicable to the role. Adhere to HMH infection control and safety policies. Other duties and/or projects as assigned. Adhere to HMH organizational competencies and standards of behavior. Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required : 1) Successful completion of an approved physician's assistant program accredited by the AMA Council on Medical Education. 2) Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 3) Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite). Licenses and Certifications Required : 1) Physician Assistant License. 2) National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). 3) BLS (American Heart Association Basic Life Support).

Licenses and Certifications Preferred : 1) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Compensation

Minimum rate of $156,249.60 annually. Hackensack Meridian Health is committed to pay equity and transparency for our team members.
