Thoracic Physician Assistant

Employer: JFK University Medical Center, Edison, New Jersey Shift: Evening (3pm-11pm). Full-time with benefits. Overview The Physician Assistant assists, monitors, and manages the day-to-day needs of patients as requested by, in conjunction with, and under the supervision of a physician. Responsibilities Provide medical services under the supervision of a licensed physician, consistent with PA's education, training, and experience. Perform and document accurate, complete, and relevant history and physical assessments appropriate for the patient's age, gender, and clinical problem. Order, perform, and interpret laboratory tests and diagnostic studies/procedures in collaboration with physicians and consultants as appropriate. Manage general medical and surgical conditions based on comprehensive knowledge of etiologies, risk factors, pathophysiology, and indications and contraindications of pharmacologic agents and other treatment modalities. Prescribe medication safely and effectively in accordance with best practices, hospital policy, and NJ regulations, providing patient education as needed. Promote high reliability and quality outcomes for patients and colleagues through evidence-based and value-based medicine. Communicate effectively with all members of the healthcare team through participation in daily interdisciplinary rounds. Serve as a clinical resource for the multidisciplinary team, addressing clinical, process, and system improvement opportunities. Mentor other PAs, precept students in PA programs, and participate in educational programs as a clinical expert. Adhere to all HMH infection control and safety policies and organizational competencies. Qualifications Successful completion of an approved physician's assistant program, accredited by the AMA Council on Medical Education. Physician Assistant License (state of New Jersey) and National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office and Google Suite). BLS AHA Basic Life Support Health Care Provider certification. Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification (preferred). Compensation Minimum rate of $148,803.20 annually. Benefits Health, dental, vision, paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and retirement benefits.
